The Second Day

Today we had two very interesting talks about housing in Britain. The first lecture by Barbara Compton, head of Housing Solutions, dealt with different possibilities of accommodations provided by this organisation, e.g. affordable housing or council housing. Besides she mentioned some facts and figures concerning Private Sector Homes, homelessness and renewal of the city of Southampton.
The second speech was held by a representor of the Atlantic Housing Association, which owns about 5000 properties in and around the county of Hampshire. They offer various types of housing like general needs housing, supported housing and extra care properties for elderly people, refugees, lease holders and student lettings. One interesting fact was that there are lists in different areas, the so-called keyworkers' list (a list with professions like doctors, nurses, garbage men...) where people, who work exactly in the wanted profession, receive accomodations under specific conditions.
Furthermore we changed the topic of our project since we considered the topic about cancer patients more interesting than our first choice.
